A medspa is two businesses sharing a reception desk: a clinic with consent forms, contraindications and treatment courses, and a retail beauty business with packages, commission and rebooking. Software that only understands one of them leaves the other on paper.
Quick answer
Medical spa software manages the clinical and commercial sides of a medspa together: consultations with consent and contraindication records, multi-session treatment courses with accurate remaining balances, scheduling that books the practitioner, the room and the device as separate resources, before-and-after photo records, and compliant invoicing. LABÉAU covers the commercial layer — courses and packages, room and device scheduling, tiered commission, WhatsApp recall and LHDN/IRAS e-invoicing — from RM174.92/month; Aoikumo and Pabau go deeper on clinical records, and Zenoti targets large international medspa chains.

The device is the constraint
In an ordinary spa the scarce resource is the room. In a medspa it is usually the machine — one laser, one HIFU handpiece, one IPL platform shared across every practitioner and every treatment room.
Scheduling that books only the practitioner produces a diary that cannot be delivered: two clients booked for laser at eleven, one device. Modelling the device as a bookable resource in its own right, with its own availability and its own turnaround, is the difference between a full diary and a workable one — and it is the single most common gap in general beauty booking tools used by medspas.
Courses are the commercial unit, not appointments
Medspa treatments are sold in courses — six sessions of laser, a series of three injectable reviews, a twelve-week programme — paid for up front and delivered over months. The appointment is a delivery event; the course is the thing that was actually bought.
That means the balance a client holds matters more than the appointment book. Which sessions remain, when they expire, whether they can be transferred, what happens if the client stops halfway: every one of those is a conversation waiting to happen, and every one goes better when the system holds an authoritative number that both sides can see at the counter.
Recall is clinical as well as commercial
Many medspa treatments only work on a schedule. A laser course spaced four to six weeks apart stops delivering results if the client drifts to ten. Recall is therefore not marketing — it is part of the treatment, and it is the part most often left to whoever remembers.
Automating it against each client's own protocol interval, on WhatsApp where messages get read, keeps courses on track and keeps unredeemed liability from ageing on the books. It is the rare retention mechanism that is genuinely in the client's interest as well as the business's.
Consultation and consent captured before the first treatment, not retrospectively.
Contraindications and allergies visible to whoever is treating, every visit.
Before-and-after records attached to the course, with the client's consent for use.
Protocol-interval recall on WhatsApp rather than a generic 90-day campaign.
Practitioner, room and device scheduled together as separate resources.

The bottom line
If your medspa runs on treatment courses, shared devices and disciplined recall, LABÉAU handles the commercial engine — courses, resources, commission, WhatsApp recall and local e-invoicing — from RM174.92/month. If full electronic medical records and clinical charting are central to how you practise, Aoikumo or Pabau are the better fit.
Also worth comparing
Medspa buyers also meet Aesthetic Record, the default answer for a United States medspa, and Clinicminds, a Netherlands-built platform written for aesthetic medicine specifically. Both are clinic-native and strong on documentation; neither files Malaysian MyInvois or Singaporean InvoiceNow from checkout. Mangomint and Boulevard are well designed and deliberately lighter on the clinical side.

Medspa software adds a clinical layer — consultations, consent, contraindications and treatment records — and treats multi-session courses rather than single appointments as the commercial unit. It also has to schedule devices as scarce resources, not just practitioners. Salon software typically models none of those, which is why medspas outgrow generic booking tools quickly.
It should. In most medspas the device, not the practitioner or the room, is the binding constraint. LABÉAU lets a device be modelled as a bookable resource with its own availability and turnaround, so a slot is only offered when the practitioner, the room and the machine are all genuinely free.
LABÉAU holds client profiles, service history, notes and consent records suited to aesthetic and wellness treatments, but it is not a full electronic medical records system. If your practice needs clinical charting, prescribing and structured medical records, Aoikumo or Pabau are designed for that; LABÉAU is the stronger fit where the courses, commission, retail and local e-invoicing side is what needs solving.
As a prepaid liability with an authoritative remaining balance visible at the counter, plus expiry, transfer and refund rules decided in advance. A course paid for up front and delivered over months will otherwise produce two different balances — the client's and yours — and the disagreement always surfaces at the worst moment.
